Crochet Dungaree for Boys
Materials
Yarn (recommended for crochet 4.0mm)
Crochet hook (size 3mm)

Instructions
ROW 1: Chains 104. Slip stitch in
first chain (make sure chain is not twisted).
ROW 2: Go up with 3 chains (this
counts as the first double crochet) and make 1 double crochet for each chain
stitch. Close row with a slip stitch.
ROW 3: 7 Single crochet – 1
Increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch). Repeat until the end of
the row. Close row with a slip stitch.
ROWS 4 – 20: Make 1 row of double
crochet and next make 1 row of single crochet. Repeat sequence until end of
rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.
Legs
Locate the centre of the knit and
join it with a Slip stitch.
Make each side of the legs
repeating the same pattern, as follows:
ROWS 1 – 6: Make 1 row of single
crochet and the next 1 row of double crochet. Repeat sequence until end of rows.
Close each row with a slip stitch.
ROW 1: Make single crochet.
ROW 2: Make double crochet.
ROW 3: Make single crochet.
ROW 4: Make double crochet.
ROW 5: Make single crochet.
ROW 6: Make double crochet.
ROWS 7 – 22: Go up with 1 chain,
make 1 decrease, then single crochet until the end of the row. Go up with 3 Chains,
make 1 decrease, then double crochet until the end of the row. Repeat sequence
until end of rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.
ROW 23: Make 1 row of double
crochet. Close row with a slip stitch.
ROW 24: Go up with 3 chains. Make
1 double crochet taking the double crochet from the previous row from the front
part (front post double crochet). Make a double crochet taking the double
crochet from the previous row from the back part (back post double crochet). Repeat
until the end of the row. Close row with
a slip stitch.
ROW 25: Go up with 3 chains. Make1
double crochet taking the double crochet from the previous row from the front
part (front post double crochet). Make a double crochet taking the double
crochet from the previous row from the back part (back post double crochet).
Repeat until the end of the row. Close
row with a slip stitch.
Finally, cut the yarn and repeat pattern for
the other leg.
Waist
Hold the trousers from the upper
part.
ROW 1: insert crochet, take yarn,
go up with 1 chain and make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous
row. Repeat until the end of the row.
ROWS 2 – 4: Make 1 half double crochet
for each stitch of the previous row. Repeat until the end of the rows.
Front of dungaree (chest)
Locate the upper ends either side
of the trousers waist and mark them in order to knit the front of the dungaree.
ROW 1: Make 1 double crochet for
each stitch of the previous row. Repeat until the end of the row.
ROW 2: Turn the knit around. Go up with 1 chain and make 1 single crochet for
each stitch of the previous row. Repeat until the end of the row.
ROW 3: Turn the knit around. Go
up with 3 chains, make 1 decrease and continue making double crochet and 1
decrease at the end of the row.
ROW 4: Turn the knit around. Go
up with 1 chain, make 1 decrease, and continue making single crochet and 1 decrease
at the end of the row.
ROWS 5 – 13: Go up with 3 chains,
make 1 decrease, and continue making double crochet and 1 decrease at the end
of the row and the next row go up with 1 chain, make 1 decrease, and continue
making single crochet and 1 decrease at the end of the row. Repeat sequence
until end of rows.
ROWS 14 – 19: Make 1 row of
single crochet and the next 1 row of double crochet. Repeat sequence until end
of rows.
Cut the yarn.
Once finished the front part
repeat the same pattern in order to work the back of the dungaree.
Braces (shoulders)
Take the back part of the dungaree. Locate the outward ends,
insert the crochet and take yarn.
ROW 1: Go up with 3 chains, make 5 double crochet.
ROWS 2 – 17: Make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the
previous row. Repeat until the end of the rows.
Identify location of button and stitch it on.
Repeat the same pattern on the other side of the dungaree.
Buttonhole
Locate each end in the
front part of the dungaree
(chest)
Make 12 chains and
insert them in the seventh stitch.
Waist part to add buttons
In the back part of the dungaree locate the waist section
and the opening that separate the front from the back.
ROW 1: Start from the back. Insert the crochet, take yarn
and go up the knit with single crochet until you get to the row where the
decreases commence.
ROWS 2 – 7: Make 1 single crochet for
each stitch of the previous row.
Sew a button in the middle of the
knit.
Repeat the same pattern on the other side of the knit.
Pocket
ROW 1: Make 18 chains.
ROWS 2 – 12: Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the
previous row. Repeat until the end of the rows.
Make a single crochet around the knit. When you get to the
bottom corners make 4 single crochet in the same stitch.
Sew the pocket on the front part of the dungaree (chest).
Decoration
To make the circles:
VUELTA 1: Make 1 magic ring of 6 single crochet. Close row
with a slip stitch.
VUELTA 2: Make 1 increase for each stitch of the previous
row. Close row with a slip stitch.
Make 3 equal circles of different colours.
Sew the three circles on top of one of the corners of the
pocket’s lower part.
Finishes
Make single crochet all around the dungaree’s upper part,
including the braces and the buttonholes.
