Unisex Crochet Shorts

Materials

Yarn (recommended for 4mm crochet)

Crochet hook (size 3mm)

Yarn needle 

Scissors

Size: 1 – 2 years

Instructions

ROW 1: Make 85 chains and join them with a slip stitch in the first chain (make sure chain is not twisted). Go up with 3 chains and make double crochet until end of rows. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROW 2: Go up with 3 chains, 3 double crochet and 1 increase. Make 4 double crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until end of row. Close the row with a slip stitch. 

ROWS 3 – 12: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Repeat until end of rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.

Legs

Locate the centre of the knit and join it with a slip stitch.

ROW 1: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROW 2 – 3: Go up with 3 chains, 1 decrease, keep making double crochet until end of row. Repeat until end of rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.

ROW 4: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

ROWS 5 – 7: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row taking the next stitch from the front loop only. Repeat until end of rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.

Change of colour: pink

ROW 8: Go up with 1 chain and make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Close row with a slip stitch.

Do the other part of the leg by repeating the same pattern.

Top of pants (waist)

ROW 1: Go up with 3 chains starting in the middle of the knit at the front of the pants. Continue making 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Leave a non-knitting stitch at the end of the row (do not close the row with slip stitch).

ROWS 2 – 4: Go up with 3 chains, Flip knit and make 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row. Repeat until all rows are finished.

Finishes

•    Fold the fabric around the waist and sew the tip from the back

•    With a 4mm crochet take two strands of threads of two different colours and make 1 chain of 100.

•    Make two small pompoms.

•    Insert the cord formed with the chain of 100 and insert it through the waist.

•    Sew a small pompon at each end of the cord.
