Materials

Yarn (recommended for 4 mm crochet)

Instructions

ROW 1: Make 6 single crochet inside magic ring. Directly knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 2: Make 1 increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch) for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 3: Make 1 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 4: Make 2 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 5: Make 3 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 6: Make 4 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 7: Make 5 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 8: Make 6 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 9: Make 7 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 10: Make 8 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 11: Make 9 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 12: Make 10 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 13: Make 11 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 14: Make 12 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROWS 15 – 24: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start each following row. Mark the beginning of each row with a stitch marker.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (black)

ROWS 25 – 26: Go up with 1 chain, 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (yellow)

ROWS 27 – 36: Go up with 1 chain, 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start each following row. Mark the beginning of each row with a stitch marker.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (blue)

ROW 37: Go up with 3 chains. 1 double crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROWS 38 - 39: Go up with 3 chains. Make 1 double crochet taking the double crochet from the previous row from the front part (front post double crochet). Make a double crochet taking the double crochet from the previous row from the back part (back post double crochet). Repeat until the end of the rows. Close each row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Eyes Crochet hook (size 3 mm)

Colour black

ROW 1: Make 10 single crochet inside magic ring. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (White)

ROW 2: Go up with 1 chain, make 1 increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch) for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

ROW 3: Make 1 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

ROW 4: Make 2 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (Grey)

ROW 5: Go up with 1 chain, 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Make another eye repeating the same pattern.

Smile

15 chains.

Cut the yarn.

Assemble the hat

1. Sew the eyes on the black stripe.

2. Sew the mouth under the eyes.

3. Take strands of black wool and pass it through the inside of the hat, then pull it through the top of the hat. From the inside of the hat make several knots so that they do not come out from the other side, cut the excess wool.

Locate the strands in the top of the hat, put the needle through a stitch nearby and leave the strands a bit long. Take the needle out from another stitch nearby and put it back in another stitch nearby and leave the strands long. Take the needle out again and insert it again taking care that all the strands are of the same length. Cut the strands of yarn. Make 1 knot and another knot to reinforce. Cut the excess yarn to make it even.
