Crochet Handbag Inspired by Minnie Mouse  

Materials

Yarn (recommended for 4.0mm crochet)

Crochet hook (size 4mm)

Ribbon

Button

Instructions

Colour Pink

ROW 1: 36 chains. Go up with 1 chain, make single crochet and in the last stitch make 3 single crochet in the same stitch. Keep making single crochet and in the last stitch make 3 single crochet in the same stitch.

ROWS 2 – 20: Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker. Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows.

Cut the yarn.

Colour change (black)

ROW 21: Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 22: Make 4 single crochet and 1 decrease. Repeat until the end of the row.  Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROWS 23 – 29: Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows.

Now we’ve finished row 29.

It’s the only one that I close with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

ROW 30: In the middle of the piece in the back make 12 separation chains and bring the chain on to the same stitch where I lift the chain of 12 and make 1 slip stitch, then make single crochet throughout the outline on the top of the bag, including the buttonhole. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Minnie Mouse Figure

ROW 1: Magic ring of 10 single crochet. Directly knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 2: Make 1 increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch) for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.  

ROW 3: Make 1 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 4: Make 2 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 5: Make 3 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 6: Make 4 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Ears (2)

ROW 1: Magic ring of 10 single crochet. Directly knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 2: Make 1 increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch) for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Directly Knit 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.   

ROW 3: Make 1 single crochet and 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn, then:

• Make another ear repeating the same pattern
• Sew the ears to the head
• Sew the applique to the bag

Bow 

• Take 1 ribbon of 40 cm and fold it to form a bow
• Sew in the middle of the bow
• Roll the thread in the centre of the bow
• Put a piece of ribbon in the centre of the bow and sew it on the back
• Cut the tips of the ribbon
• Sew the bow in the middle of the ears of Minnie's figure
• Sew button

Handle

• Make 8 chains and join the other end making 1 single crochet, continue making single crochet circularly until it is 41 cm long.
• Sew the handle to each end of the bag.
