Children Crochet Hooded Cardigan
(Sweater - Jumper – Coat - Jacket)


Materials

Yarn (recommended for crochet 4mm)
Crochet hook (size 3.5mm)
Stitch Markers   
Buttons

SIZE: 2 – 3 years

INSTRUCTIONS

Bright blue

ROW 1: Make chain of 100. Go up with 3 chains, make double crochet until the end of the row.

ROW 2: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Cut the yarn.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 3 – 4: Go up with 3 chains, make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Cut the yarn.

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 5 – 6: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 7 – 8: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 9 -10: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 11 – 12: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 13 – 14: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 15 – 16: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Mark stitches 25 -50 - 25 

Front of the Jacket

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 17 -18: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Cut the yarn.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 19 – 20: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 21 – 22: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 23 – 24: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Repeat from row 17 to row 24 of the other half of the front.

Back of the Jacket

Repeat from row 17 to row 24

·     To join the shoulders measure 8cm from the ends of the knit inwards, and mark with a stitch marker.  Do the same on the other side of the shoulders.
·     Join the front with the back in the shoulder section with single crochet where you placed the stitch markers. Cut the yarn. Do the same on the other side of the shoulders.

Two Sleeves (colour dark blue)

ROW 1: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet all around the sleeve. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROWS 2 – 10: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Close row with a slip stitch. Repeat until the end of the rows.

ROW 11: Go up with 1 chain, 1 decrease and 1 single crochet until the end of the row. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROWS 12 – 13: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close row with a slip stitch.

Change colour (bright blue)

ROWS 14 – 15: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close row with a slip stitch.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROWS 16 – 17: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Close row with a slip stitch.  

Do the same for the other sleeve.
Locate the shoulders and measure 8cm from the outside of each one. Mark with a stitch marker and join the front with the back with half stitches until you get to the stitch marker.

Hood

(Dark blue)

ROW 1: Go up with 3 chains and make 1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row, all around the neck, from end to end.

ROWS 2 – 21: Go up with 3 chains and make  1 double crochet in between the following 2 double crochet of the previous row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

Hood size

25 cm long
50 cm wide

Let’s join the knit to make the hood:

·     Fold the knit towards the back
·     Join it in the upper part of the hood with single crochet.

Lower part of the coat (dark blue)

ROW 1 – 2: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row.  

Change colour (bright blue)

ROW 3 – 4: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row.

Change colour (dark blue)

ROW 5 – 6: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row.

Make single crochet with dark blue all around the coat’s front part, including the front part of the hood.

Eyelets

Use a stitch marker to mark each point where you want to position the eyelets.

Change colour (bright blue)

·     Make single crochet and remove stitch marker. Go up with 2 chains, miss 1 stitch and in the following stitch make 1 single crochet. Keep this sequence until you get to the last stitch marker, then keep making single crochet all around, including the hood, and terminating at the other end of lower part of the coat.
·     Mark the last row with a stitch marker and with dark blue make single crochet all the way to the bottom. Do the same on the other side.
·     Sew buttons
·     Make 3 pompons
·     Sew 1 pompon in the back part of the hood
·     Make 1 chain of 150 (or 102 cm) and insert the chain in the front part of the hood. Sew one pompon at each end of the chain.
