Crochet Cushion Heart - Valentine's Day

MATERIALS

Yarn (recommended for crochet 4mm)

Crochet hook size 3.5mm

Yarn needle 

Scissors

Synthetic cotton to fill

Colour buttons

INSTRUCTIONS

ROW 1: Make 1 chain of 20.

ROWS 2 – 21: Go up with 1 chain. Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

• Make single crochet for two sides of the square. In total we have to work on 40 stitches.

1. Work on the first 20 stitches, as follows:  

ROW 1: Go up with 1 chain. Make single crochet, 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch) at the end of the row.

ROW 2: Go up with 1 chain and 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch), then keep making single crochet until the end of the row.

ROWS 3 – 5: Go up with 1 chain. Make 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row.  Repeat until the end of the rows.

ROW 6: Go up with 1 chain, make single crochet, and make 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch) at the end of the row.

ROW 7: Go up with 1 chain, 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch), and keep making single crochet until the end of the row.

ROW 8: Go up with 1 chain, 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch), keep making single crochet, and make 1 decrease (miss 1 stitch) at end of the row.

Once the first 20 stitches are finished, work on the remaining 20 stitches on the other sides of the heart repeating the same pattern.

Contour of the heart

• Go up with 1 chain, miss three stitches, keep making single crochet and at the opposite end of the heart’s tip miss 3 stitches. Keep making single crochet and at the following edge miss 4 stitches. Keep making single crochet in the bend of the middle of the heart, make 1 slip stitch and keep making single crochet. At the following edge miss 4 stitches, keep making single crochet and to finish the row close it with a slip stitch.

Cut the yarn.

Make another heart using the same pattern.

Assembling the heart

• Sew the buttons to one side of the heart
• Sew the two sides of the heart
• Fill the heart with synthetic cotton
• Complete sewing around the heart
