How to crochet mittens

Materials

Yarn (recommended for crochet 4mm)

Crochet hook (size 3.5mm)

Instructions

Colour white

ROW 1: Make 6 single crochet inside magic ring. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 2: Make 1 increase (that is 2 single crochet in the same stitch) for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 3: Make 1 single crochet plus 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 4: Make 2 single crochet plus 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 5: Make 3 single crochet plus 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROW 6: Make 4 single crochet plus 1 increase. Repeat until the end of the row. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start the following row. Mark the beginning of the row with a stitch marker.

ROWS 7 – 17: 1 single crochet for each stitch of the previous row until the end of the row. Repeat until the end of the rows. Directly make 1 single crochet in order to start each following row. Mark the beginning of each row with a stitch marker.

ROW 18: Make 1 single, 1 decrease until the end of the row.  Close row with a slip stitch.

Colour change (black)

ROWS 19 – 21: Go up with 2 chains, take a loop, insert and take out the crochet from the same stitch, then insert again the crochet in the same stitch and take out the yarn. In the crochet there must be 5, which must be closed simultaneously. Repeat sequence until end of rows. Close row with a slip stitch.

Repeat sequence until row 21.

·     Make 1 chain of 45 in order to make the lace (black)

Spots around eyes (black)

ROW 1: Make 1 chain of 6, 5 single crochet, 1 triple increase, 4 single crochet, 1 increase. Close row with a slip stitch.

ROW 2: Go up with 1 chain, 5 single crochet, 1 Increase, 6 single crochet, 1 increase. Close row with a slip stitch.

Make another spot repeating the same pattern.

Nose (black)

ROW 1: Make 1 chain of 7.

ROW 2: Make 7 Single crochet.

ROW 3: Go up with 1 chain, 1 decrease, keep making single crochet and at the end of the row 1 decrease.

ROW 4: Go up with 1 chain and make decreases.

To finish the base, go all around the nose making a single crochet for each stitch.

Ears (black)

ROW 1: Make 1 magic ring of 12 double crochet. Do not close the magic ring. 

We’ve finished the 12 double crochet.

Pull the yarn.

Make another ear repeating the same pattern.

Put the mittens together

·     Place the lace in the mittens.

·     Locate and sew the mittens, the ears, the spots around the eyes, and the nose.

·     Sew buttons on the spots.
